Songs Of Spring Poem by David Pass

Songs Of Spring

The trees and fields are bare
But in the woodland glade
Some greenery is there
Instead of leafy shade.

White snowdrops are in bloom
The first signs of the Spring,
To banish winter gloom
And hope expectant bring.

Crocuses in colour
And yellow daffodils.
Birds now pair together,
We hear their morning trills.

Young lambs dance together,
Young birds hatch in the nest.
Warmer is the weather,
This season is the best.

Cowslips on the train trails
And bluebells in the wood.
Celandines in the dales,
Anemones in mud.

Where are the songs of Spring?
They're all around us now.
Butterflies on the wing.
The farmer with his plough.

Blossom in profusion;
Magnolia and cherry.
Beauty no illusion.
Promise of a berry.

Azaleas and roses.
On trees new leaves unfurl.
Scents excite our noses,
Get insects in a whirl.
