SONG OF THE SLAVES

In the deep river there is a boat transporting the slaves of Africa to North America
Once they arrive in north America they will work in the farmers field
The owners will assigned them to there jobs in the field
They will plant the corn
Someday we will be free at last
They say once a slave is born a slave he will always be a slave
We raise the corn
Once the crops begun to grow we were lucky
By the end of the summer we collected our corn
The corn was delicious
We ate some also
The rest our owners sold to the people in the road
They had to earn some money to pay us
Once the winter was here
They sold us back to the slavery market
Some of us didn’t know if we would see our brother’s again
So this was really the time to spend the last time here
We stayed here from September to March
By the end of March we were sold to our new owners
They took us back to Africa
We love our land and our home
We want to stay in Africa and die in Africa
