Song Of Rain Poem by Bharat Trivedi

Song Of Rain

Pallid sun sobs behind
umbrella of dark clouds.
when tears disguised as raindrops
swell up in the grey-eyed skies!
Whistling wet winds
twirl the trees for thrills.
Dark sky illuminates
by the thunderbolt flashlight.
Drumbeats of thunder
rumble across the distant firmament.
Pompous peacocks spread their turquoise feathers
dancing to the lilting tunes of nature’s ensemble,
as precious pearls pour down
to embellish earth’s Eden

I stare at silver threads
trickling down the tar-tainted sky
soaking me to the skin.
Zany zephyr blows and
goose-bumps grow over my body.
Covering myself in mackintosh of memories
my parched lips drink
the wine of intoxicating rain
from the seven shades of rainbow
to quench my colorless thirst
I bathe in the transparent downpour
till my thirsty soul tingles with
the subtle scent of soil

Rain goddess flogs me
with brutal lashes of her water whip
to wash away my sins.
until I soak in pleasure of pain
and her flooding tears
mingle with mine
as I sing the song of rain
in ecstasy…
