Song Of A Lonely Mermaid Poem by Jaimi Loewen

Song Of A Lonely Mermaid

Rating: 4.5

My scales
are an icy blue
shimmering beneath
the water
as droplets of rain
glimmer on glass
twisting and swimming
in an icy blue world
in which I
am the lone
inhabitant
alone, but for
myself
fair enough company
for one person
I float on my
back
and dream
and live like
no one is living
around me
I can dream
all day
dream
about the softest
of feathers
pinned to wings
that will
fly me away
away
out of my
watery world
in which me
is the word
I am
the only person
watching
my sparkling scales
dip in
and out of
the water
as shimmery as rain
on glass
