Song Of A Caged Bird Poem by Dionne K. Kelly

Song Of A Caged Bird

Rating: 5.0

Serenely almost too soft to be heard
Comes a sound that can not be described as words
Unexpectedly the tiny sound
Becomes exuberant and proud
It rings from the hills
The smoothest of trills
Song of the caged bird
Oh such beautiful words
Words that speak of many things
Words that speak of the caged bird's dreams
Life is so hard to take
When the things you love are taken away
And yet you try your hardest to smile
When really you're ready to die all the while
You pretend
You put on a façade
But you've done it so long no one sees it as odd
Song of the caged bird
Oh such beautiful words
Words that speak of many things
Words that speak of the caged bird's dreams
Imprisoned for oh so long
Freedom is offered yet you recommence your song
You dream of a place far far away
But you won't venture out into the unknown day
You pretend not to care to discover the unseen
You'd rather continue complaining
Continue dreaming
Song of the caged bird
Oh such beautiful words
Words that speak of many things
Words that speak of the caged bird's dreams
Life is so hard to take
When the things you love are taken away
And yet you try your hardest to smile
When really you're ready to die all the while
You pretend
You put on a façade
But you've done it so long no one sees it as odd
Song of the caged bird
Oh such beautiful words
Words that speak of many things
Words that speak of the caged bird's dreams
