Sometimes Poem by Leah Ayliffe

Sometimes

Rating: 0.5

Sometimes I like to put on music
And just lie on my bed
Starring out the window for hours

Sometimes my room gets really cold
And if I really wanted to, I could get under my covers.
But I dont.

Sometimes I like to lie there in the cold
And feel it tingle my skin
Through to my core

It gets very cold sometimes
But I never move
I stay lying there
Til the music stops.

And sometimes,
Feeling the cold settle in me
Gives me peace.

COMMENTS OF THE POEM

I thought this was one of your NEW POEMS and it is actually from 2 1/2 years ago. Bur every time we engage with a poem it is the Present Moment. I sent my commentary as e-mail but I have a bizarre parallel to the poem. Do you know the American composer MORTON FELDMAN? He composed very VERY long works, I mean l-o-n-g! One would be ideal for the SOMETIMES scenario: His String Quartet No.2 (1983) last over 6 hours (sic) , in one movement - NO BREAKS. My recording covers five cds each one over 70 minutes long, but there is an audio dvd that plays for the whole 6 hours 7 minutes and 7 seconds. The venerable Kronos Quartet played an abridged version in the composer's presence but they cancelled a complete performance after his death: they couldn't handle it. On my cd all the players are under 30! Well, if the experience of SOMETIMES is restorative as I argue in my commentary, imagine playing the audio dvd: I STAY LYING THERE / UNTIL THE MUSIC STOPS 6 hours later. How refreshed you will be, how restored. Better get started. You have a long haul ahead.
