Something Is Amiss Poem by Scott McQueen

Something Is Amiss

Madness is a flame
By the sparks in life
This being the case
I'm an inferno in our strife

What conflict has a flame?
As it wonders through the fields
It has to stop for nothing
No one for which to yield

But a flame burns just as intensely
On the inside as the out
The pain I may cause others
Is equal unto myself

Madness is the fire
That even blind men see
And though it lets my body wander
My soul cannot be free

But am I truly mad?
Or can I just convey
The message of the mad man
I could never be?

Jealous as I am
I cannot stand a heat
And logic and irration
Cannot mix beneath these feet

If you're looking for a reason
I can only spare you this
I envy what I hate
Something is amiss
