Something Poem by WEIKAMA EMMA

Something

there’s always something in the way
just when am about to make up with my friend
when am about to tell the truth to those I’ve lied to all this long
when am about to call my parents and tell them how much I love them

there’s always something in the way
when am about to grab that holly book and read a verse
when I grab my books and head for that library
when I finally think am through with that bachelors

there’s always something getting through
when I resort to selling the only property I’ve got to pay my rent
when the time for receiving my salary comes
when that job interviewer promises to call me

there’s always something getting through
when I turn to drugs for comfort
when I toss away my medication so I could just die
when I finally start to gain the trust of my own blood

there’s always something in the way
when try to fight for what I believe belongs to me
when I try to defend like a man, what I cry for like a woman
when i turn to the night sky to get lost among the stars and disappear from my misery

and this something is strong
and am afraid as everyone is watching
and i can’t lift myself to existence as this is not in me
and this is all I know
