Someone Depends On You Poem by JAMES T. ADAIR

Someone Depends On You

You've lost your will
You've lost your fight
You still cry lonley tears
In the dark silence of the night

You wonder if you're crazy
Because you take in the pain
And though you know the hurt
You'll go back again

Someone depends on you
And there is nothing you can do
But push your sadness back inside of you
And fight feeling beaten, lost and blue

You've been abandoned
You know lonliness so well
You long for a caring touch of softness
You linger in a private hell

You toss and turn and cannot go to sleep
You write a poem, and writing it you weep
Because all the memories now seem sad
It hurts to know the thing you thought you lost you never had

But someone depends on you
And there is nothing you can do
But push your sadness back inside of you
And fight feeling beaten, lost and blue

To others you try to show a smile
But you're losing the battle all the while
Still you dust yourself off each day
And try to push your emptiness away

One day you tell yourself
The world will again be bright
You'll walk hand and hand in love
And someone will want to make you right

But someone depends on you
And you can't forget
You care too much about others
To let them get wet

It only this that keeps you alive
trying to help others fight lonliness
As they struggle to survive
Doing your part to mend another's heart

And in the end
If you can let go of your past
And learn again to trust and depend
You might find love somehow around life's next bend

Rest your weary heart in the comfort of a freind
