Someone Poem by Timothy Michael Ricke

Someone

I knew of someone so very long ago
She touched my life, my very soul
Our days were measured without the slightest of care
Those memories linger gently with no hint of despair

Was it her laugh, her smile or pretentious way to beguile?
We had hope that some day we would walk the isle
My country called and I had to pay my due
It left us both pained filled, empty as the emptiness accrued

A sweetness, a warmth, a joy, a happiness, a touch of passion
all tendered with love and deep felt compassion
Years have passed our way and those moments still linger
Friends alas are the hopes of this aging torch singer
