Some Where Down The Trail Of Tears

Some Where Down The Trail Of Tears

Some where down the trail of tears
Because of the greed of the white man
The red man had to face their greatest fears
They were forced off their land

Yes they were forced out
So many died from starvation
No matter from what creed
They had to move their reservation

For those that refused
They were wiped out
By the army or smallpox
So they would have no doubt

Many families were lost
And had drifted far apart
Just the images in your head
Would tear your heart a part

They say that trail of tears
Went into months from weeks
As the trail moved right on
Each day growing more weak

They called the red man savages
And called themselves Christian folk
Acting all high and mighty
Not knowing they was a joke

The red man was robbed
Of their pride and their land
By those so-called Christians
Would take everything they can

Yes, that trail of tears
Was lived so long ago
But, it's a piece of history
That everyone should know

And yet, still today
There are many living the same
Though the white man frowns
They are the very ones to blame

Should you meet a red man
Try and shake his hand
Be proud that you know them
No matter what his clan
