‘some Unlucky Ones! ’ (To Dear Poetess Joyce Hemsley) Poem by Dr John Celes

‘some Unlucky Ones! ’ (To Dear Poetess Joyce Hemsley)

There are so many lilies in the valley,
That no one ever plucks nor perfume smells!
There are so many orchids deep in forests,
No man has seen to love its shape and hue!

There are so many plants and herbs in wild,
With healing properties unknown to man;
There are so many creatures still unknown,
With awe-inspiring beauty, spell-binding!

There are some bards that sing and fly on wings,
And paint with words with musical effect;
There are some souls who love to pen their hearts,
To make all people happy, smile and laugh!

Yet, world knows not these unlucky ones yet!
They labour not for awards, nor rewards;
God gave them gift of Poesy afree,
To share with brethren who just love to read!
