Soldier Poem by Jessica Lindsey

Soldier

There is no fear in their eyes
But there is terror in the air
There is lightening in the sky
And explosions everywhere.
Their gaze drifts not to left or right
And yet they are aware
Of their brothers in this bloody fight
Each one for whom they care.
No words have depth to express
Their loyalty to each other,
To their country, to their flag
And each to his own mother.
Instead they prove their honor
By lifting up their guns
And without a thought for their own souls
Into Hell's gate they run.
