Solace Poem by David Brush

Solace

My life isn't mine anymore
What I was I can't be
All my love is locked behind a door
I need it to protect me don't you see

I once flew high enough to touch the sun
The light now burns me through to the inside
My wings are broken and flights are done
In the shadows I now hide

I see the light and turn away
I hear the calls and turn a deaf ear
In my shadows I wish to stay
I look for comfort in my fear
