Sofiat Poem by Olatunji Yusuf

Sofiat

Daughter of Offa
Daughter of Olalomi
Where yams trade greetings
With people on busy Owode market
Yours is glorious heritage
For you were from Offa

Of your voice
Of your face which shines
Like that of porcelain doll
Your voice soft and gentle
Like that of a Nightingale

Well-mannered
Life long learner
Generous listener
Swelling pride
Which no gold nor diamond can buy

Your strong work ethic
Seasons your throat
Your strong work ethic
Clothes your body
Even without the royal neck beads
You gleam and gleam like brass

Ayoka, Rejoice! ! !
For your star will shine
In narrow alleys and public squares.
