Soap Poem by Paula Glynn

Soap

Soap cleanses the dirt and badness,
It relieves me of my pain,
As the water cascades above my head,
Soap is used as the shower sprays over me.

Soap makes me feel good, like perfume,
And it destroys the smell that would haunt me,
It leaves me shiny and new,
Soap leaves my skin baby soft,
As I wrap up in a warm towel.

Soap is the silence after the storm,
I feel cleansed and refreshed,
And soap gives me confidence,
When walking down the street,
Or when I'm with my friends & family.

Soap makes me respectable at work,
Especially after a few sprays of deodorant,
And perfume - for soap is my perfume -
It like heaven: bathing in the sea,
Or swimming in a pool on a hot summer's day.

My skin is so soft & clean because of soap,
My skin like milk and other skins like coffee,
And deep chocolate, and it doesn't matter the soap:
They are all heavenly and take me home,
For every morning I go into my shower.

Soap is my saviour: it is my lifeline,
To society, it makes me normal & accepted,
It gains me respect and I wish for no odour,
I just want the sweet smell of perfume,
On my soap cleansed skin, that only heaven,
Could create, and it is never too late,
To try different perfumes and soaps.

It is all about pampering myself,
Looking and feeling good, not to mention,
Feeling secure and comfortable with others,
So tonight I wash my face in the sink,
And tomorrow morning, I shall shower,
And lather my body with luxurious soap.
