So Many Politicians Poem by Francis Duggan

So Many Politicians

So many politicians are deceitful and honorable legislators not many one could name
And to lie to them it seems to come quite natural they distort the truth in their quest for fame
By talking of their war on terrorism they spread fear amongst the population they cheat and lie just for to cling to power
They will not hesitate to lie for to seek an advantage show them a weed and they tell you 'tis a flower.

So many politicians untrustworthy they only tell you what you wish to hear
Some statements that they make are so ambiguous on purpose they never make themselves clear
For to retain their seat they learn to be deceitful and one lie leads to another so they say
And politicians they are good at lying and they do it in the most deceitful way.

So many politicians are self serving their best mates always me, myself and I
The rich grow richer and the poor grow poorer and the politicians their good life they enjoy
They favour tycoons, bureaucrats and the very wealthy and in any way they do not help the poor
They will retire one day on a huge pension and they will live financially secure.

So many politicians help their rich mates and one might say they lack in empathy
They help the haves at the expense of the have nots and for fringe dwellers do not show sympathy
They make the poor more poor by their economic rationalization and to cling to power the voters they deceive
And the saddest thing about it many people are quite gullible and what they hear they willingly believe.
