So Long Johnny Bell Poem by Hubert Wilson

So Long Johnny Bell

Gone in furious seconds that long ago autumn morn!
Only your life taken in that freak single car crash.
Others suffered wounded teenage pride and mere scratches.
Done was our earthly friendship.

Bound for a future of promise?
Yellowing leaves had just started to fall.
Exceptional friend, Johnny, purloined on the literal road to our cemetery on that sad Thanksgiving eve!
