So Few People Poem by Francis Duggan

So Few People

So few people i meet are wise beyond their years
And so few people i know in their hearts can shed tears
For those not so lucky and worse off than they
We can be cold hearted that seems sad to say,
Few people i meet have in them empathy
Those i think i do know not the people i see
The smile on the face can so often deceive
Half of what one read and one hear one ought not to believe,
I am not a good example for humanity
A cynical ratbag is what some call me
But it takes one to know one is all i can say
And that's life i suppose and it does seem that way
And so few people i know if i do speak the truth
Display kindness of heart and the great gift of ruth.
