So Close, Yet So Far Away Poem by Melody Stargaze

So Close, Yet So Far Away

They say that love is a powerful thing,
It can make any old heart sing.
It's strong enough to make me love you,
Even though I can't be with you.

I met you when I was down on my game,
Nothing to hold on to, no fame.
You saw through my tear stained eyes,
And fell for me, to my surprise,

I'm just a little girl, nothing great,
But you didn't care; this was fate.
I know I'm hot tempered and sometimes dumb,
But none of that mattered to you; I was number one.

I've messed up a lot in my time,
But still you wanted me to make you mine.
I don't know what it is about you,
But I'm so deeply in love with you.

You're overseas, and I'm in the States,
But that didn't matter to our fates,
I still love you,
And one day I'll finally be with you.

Even though you're so close, yet so far away.
