Snowy Owl Poem by Eugene Levich

Snowy Owl

Rating: 5.0

It glides ghost-like overhead
In the wooded darkness,
It's stunning whiteness
framed by the hills, hemlocks,
And suddenly night skies.
“Hoo, hoo, hoo, ” it cries.

It's there but a moment
Above my eyes
Its memory reflected
Only by the fallen snow
And my astonished sighs
“Hoo, hoo, hoo, ” it cries.

i've only seen s. owls two or three times in n.y.s. years ago. a nice subject for your poem, which i found to be very enjoyable. i especially enjoyed: Its memory reflected Only by the fallen snow And my astonished sighs but, careful! someone left an apostrophe out of this line: Its there but a moment ........easy mistake, esp. since twice you also used Its in the poem. :) thanks for sharing.....bri

As a lover of owls I can't help but find and love the beauty in your poem. Snowy Owls are indeed a breath-stealing sight!
