Sleep Poem by Kevin Hulme

Sleep

I long to be falling, falling into deepest sleep,
The Spirit waving farewell to the Storms of Day,
To sink and swim in fathoms deep
That tell of a time with false sense at play.
To be drifting over Hills and Dales
And weaving amongst the Rain sodden trees,
Over raging waves to quietly sail
The distant shores by Seven Seas.
To a strange old World like Alice knew
Confounding and turned awry,
And here I'd live my living through
Within a tired Sleepers eye.
To meet again those Souls departed
Who once had passed this way,
To stay awhile with the blessed hearted
Who'll never walk the light of day.
The dearest few who touched my life
That visit me once again,
It's many a year they left all strife
With the ending of Earthly pain.
Oh to fall to fall into deepest sleep
I'll go down into that blackened well,
And there my rest i'll hope to keep
For there no torment dwell.
