Sleep Poem by Alejandro Torres

Sleep

To the Gods
I show my Achilles heel
To you
I practice invincibility
What would you do
If you learned
You
Were my weakness
Would I have to prove
My strength
It is short and frail
Like I am
Would I have to pass
A multitude of tests
Or would you let it be
Like I let you wander
Into the gardens of others
To love what is not theirs
No more than it is yours
Destined is future
And to each
Our hearts are connected
To another
By Zeus it was made so
Simply because
We were created with two souls
So I sit
In a drowsy heap
Waiting for Morpheus
To bring me to you
In dreams
