Slaves Poem by Nwanna Onyeka Benedict

Slaves

We were slaves
To those who named us
We worship them
For they were our lords
To obey their words

We were slaves
For our races
We were chained to oppression
All hope were lost
Our daughters, their lust

We were slaves
To their wars
Which they caused
For on their pride
We fools ride

We are slaves
To our saviours
Freed from those bondage
But, back to their frustration
That lead to our destruction

We are slaves
To our own decisions
With oir choice, they rule
But they are pleasant
And we, peasant

Oh! The slaves cry
Freedom, our father
send forth thy son, justice
And thy daughter, libration
For them to established our new nation
