Slave Ship Poem by Joseph Narusiewicz

Slave Ship

There in the watercolors she dreams
Her soft talons rest in the trees
I cannot sleep
Her mind circles in the shadows
I leave pastels of the quiet meadow
A ship has landed in the quiet bay
A slave ship

She calls my name only once
