Sixteen Candles Poem by Bonnie Collins

Sixteen Candles

Rating: 5.0

Approcahing the golden year of my valley, I can still hold near and dear the memories that brought me to this hill before the valley

Blue Chiffon, Baby Blue carnations, and Sxiteen Candles that will eternally enlight my heart

Young love that never really leaves our souls, as it is the foudation of our youth, it is the root of our hearts. The root that grows endlessly
into our years of age

Mirrored in my mind is the shadow of golden memories, the first kiss, the first heartbreak, , and yes, the first experience of a new emotion, Passion

So confusing, and frightening at the same time, never really understanding such a strong emotion, one that would carry us into
our harbor of memories

Bitter/sweet the moments that followed seemed to haunt us at times but now how we yearn to take that ONE MORE STROLL

Sing one more song, and oh yes, dance one more enchanted evening away

Falling in love at such a tender age was the highlight of our emotions
Emotions that were so mysterious and yet melodramatic at the same time

With my blue chiffon, my baby blue carnations, and my sixteen candles, I can let them light one more time, only this time, I am not going to blow them out.........

Oh Bonnie! You were right...I love this one. These lines gave me chills as they led me down an old red dirt road and gifted me with the light brush of hand from my first love. How marvelous! Thanks for the beautiful and tender read. : o) Bj
