Sister Pals Poem by Harlan Simantel

Sister Pals

vinnie and emily
sister pals

ordinary looking
yet internally fair

funny, irreverent
sister pals
i love those
dickinson gals

smart as a whip
God-natured as well
they sang together
the darkness
surrendered and fell

alive today
they sing in my soul
with Jesus and God
watching, working
they all make me whole

forgotten saints
present and past
unknown, perhaps despised
the first shall be last

on we go, onward
the past is past

their beauty will quietly last
