Sinking World Poem by Abdul Wahab

Sinking World

They say
Everything is temporary
Emotions, thoughts, people and scenery
Never attached to anything
Just flow with them
This is a very good advice
I should follow this and blow with them all
But here is a man I know from his childhood
Now he is above fifty
Completely alone
Before he was living under a tyranny called Saddam
Later what he brought is not only his destruction
But the annihilation of five million people
Among them were his three young sons
From fifteen to twenty five
And his only daughter who was about seventeen
Were taken by unknown military men
In the jail first she was raped then murdered
Then dumped in
Till date her body is not found
His tears has gone dry
When he weeps sound does not come out
It is only smoke
The fire is in his eyes but he does not see any light
All over is darkness
All over is fog
So dense it is that he cannot see far
He cannot think better
His mind moves round and round
And asks himself one question
Can war stop a war?
But there is no answer in him
With this question
With all emotions and losses, people and scenery
He cannot forget anything
Nor can he float
Just his world is sinking to an unfathomable deep
From where he could only rise to take revenge.
