Silence Is Sometimes Poem by Shalom Freedman

Silence Is Sometimes

SILENCE IS SOMETIMES JUST NOTHING TO SAY

Silence is sometimes
just nothing to say
It is not deep listening
Or hidden meanings
Or profound thought forming inside
It is not even the shock of some terrible revelation
Or the incredible joy of satisfied love

It is only ‘nothing to say’
And the emptiness inside
Of not knowing how to begin or reply
Not deep not meaningful not beautiful
Awkward and slow and difficult
Not the best
Silence Not Still
Inquiet.
