Silence Poem by ANDREW BLAKEMORE

Silence

Rating: 5.0

Silence
Only silence,
No song to lift the tension
Nor to break the barren spell,
No music or no rhythm
Every day is just the same.
Endless
It's so endless,
Ignored by conversation
To share no joy nor laughter,
Imprisoned in a lonely cell
That offers no escape.
Missing
Always missing,
The first words of a baby
Gushing wind amongst the trees,
Or the waves upon the shoreline
And the chorus of the dawn.
Deafness
Wretched deafness,
How cruel and unforgiving
How uncaring and unkind,
To rob a soul of all these sounds
That I so love to hear.

The birds songs, they disappear, that is so sad, there is something very sweet when the birds are singing, it lifts the spirits high. Being slightly deaf myself it is missing the end of a joke, or not quite catching the gist of the conversation. Still old age catches up along with these sorts of problems I'm afraid. Even hearing aids are not perfect. Very well written piece, lovely words and great subject. Love and hugs Ernestine XXX

A very touching piece Andrew, you can feel the sadness of how it would feel to have such beautiful sounds stolen from the passion of one heart. Lovely poem my friend 10+
