Sibilant Sounds Poem by Elmer Jennings

Sibilant Sounds

Sibilant sounds? - Zebras pound,
Cross the chasms of a Savannah.

Camels slide in their bumpy glide
Cross sandy-seas of Sahara

A slalom on the Sahara? Shivers not!
Surfing this curl fry's the fool.

Shorn of sand, the salty seas
Sting sailors striding the deep.

Showers shell the downy dells
Denuded of the sun.

Sinuous serpents churn as searing suns
Smack stretches of the desert.

The corn whispers

Shirring shattering scurrying skittering the corn talks,
It's a harsh talk when its dry, a soft talk when it's green,
A dry crisp sound, when the moistures down,
A softer sound when it's green.

Dry withered corn whispers a mournful sigh
