Shroud Of Turin Poem by Colin Ian Jeffery

Shroud Of Turin

"Who believes in me shall never die."
Jesus Christ

(The figure on the Shroud is a man of about 30 years of age,
5ft 11in tall, bearded with long hair) .

I have seen the face of Christ
Imprinted from his blood
On shroud that wrapped him
Evidence of agonies suffered
Crown of thorns puncturing flesh
Nail wounds in wrists and feet
Body covered, front and back
Embedded marks from Roman lash
Face, struck many times
Nose broken, lips lacerated
Swellings, contusions below closed eyes
Shoulders covered with bruises
From carrying heavy wooden cross
On right side between two ribs
Wound of spear thrust to the heart.
Looking upon the face of Jesus Christ
In awe wondering that for love
He suffered so much for you and me.
