Shower Poem by Ann McKinley

Shower

Rating: 5.0

When I shower
I stand right beneath the water
So I don't hear anything
except the water screaming in my ears
When I shower
I pretend I am covered in dirt
and the dirt is all my flaws
All of my insecurities
and all of my fears
When I shower
Sometimes it feels like drowning
Like my lungs are burning with words left unsaid
All of the things that I constantly keep in my head
When I shower
I silent cry
And the tears blend in with the water
so its like I am not crying at all
Much like in life
When we scream out as we fall
When I shower
Its like the water is cleansing my brain
removing every stain
I am vulnerable
I am emotional
And I try to wash it all away

I always wondered if it counts as crying if it's done in the shower, or the rain; or anywhere that water also exist? Does it count if others don't see. I'm sure I'm heard, by someone. And the tears blend in with the water so its like I am not crying at all Much like in life When we scream out as we fall Great poem Taylor - thank you. Good to read your work again.
