Ships Poem by Aaron Priestly

Ships

Rating: 5.0

I passed the dawn to reach the night
As the ship sailed softly away.
It caught the clouds in its swelling sails
As the sailors screamed goodbye,
And a tear spurned the waves.
What a sight to meet the gods
Across those longing waters.
Away from home and close to heaven,
I could never imagine the splendour.
And a tear spurned the night.

This is a terrific poem Aaron. It captures a bitter sweet moment in time, leaving ones comfortable surroundings to sail off into adventure and the unknown.10+
