Ship Poem by Don Pengilly

Ship

Rating: 5.0

Ship lay up in the bay
Till east wind abates it stay
Perhaps they wait for orders till
It’s on their way the holds to fill

As credit crunch hold tight it’s grip
The crew wait patiently amid ship
Maybe its destined for the Fal
Laid up temporary on the Sal

Maybe it heads for breakers yard
Who knows what is on the card
Sadly times are not the best
As ship and crew are put to the test

Life’s not easy on the high seas
When all their aim is to try and please
And bring their products home to us
Without the hassle without fuss

But sadly my ship has gone to rest
For breakers yard I do not jest
As ship mates stand and count the cost
For them sadly jobs are lost.

The sea flavour in this attracted me Don and the clear way of phrasing too adds to the narrative... thanks for the sharing, 10/10 from Fay.
