Shingles Personified Poem by Jonathan Goldman a.k.a JGthepoet

Shingles Personified

This stabbing pain hits me again
From small of back to abdomen.
It’s better than the itch that was
Across my skin for five days past.

The stress caused by others’ faults
Caused Shingles to engulf my being,
With stabbing pains like needle points,
At unknown intervals in my nerves’ joints.

The itch, the itch, the constant itch,
Does in the morning engulf me so,
Which turns to pain as the days do pass,
I wish the discomfort would now go.

For five long days I must endure,
This discomfort to my body sore,
And know that it can flare up again,
If more stress and problems come to the fore.

For Shingles is inevitable to those
Who must undergo problems and stress,
However we try to take things calm,
Problems cause Shingles without redress.
