She Smiled Wide Poem by Liam O'Brien

She Smiled Wide

Sitting there amongst the flowers
Silently, a maiden young.
Sitting there awake but dreaming
Silently, a maiden young.

She saw beyond her tight-closed eyelids
Silently, her waiting prince.
She saw awaiting her departure
Silently, her waiting prince.

And so she ran anticipating
Silently, her future bright.
And so she ran her prince awaiting
Silently, her future bright.

She was lifted, eyes were opened
To gaze upon her future fair,
She smiled wide because she trusted
That her father would take her there.
