She's Not Coming Back Poem by JAMES T. ADAIR

She's Not Coming Back

In the dead silence of night
A thought comes to light
As I reach for a late night snack
She's gone......she's not coming back

If I'm right, I made a mistake
Fell for one with a hollow heart
Now feel absolute longing
later I'll feel the hearbreak

I never felt love so strongly before
She came in my life though an unlocked door
For the first time I felt my dreams soar
But that was only a dream and won't be anymore

So softly she came into my heart
But it happend from the very start
From the first time we spoke
Now it seems it's all gone up in smoke

She has a fragile heart that can't belive
She lives in her dark sadness and can't leave
She has a problem with trust
That turns anyhing shiny to rust

She warned me she did
That she was hurt deeply before
And she tries to care, but trying hurts more
The closer she feels....faster she heads for the door

I felt her heart close, because of words I chose
I knew it was a mistake
the minute I told her
I had baked someone a cake

She felt her heart wince inside
And all she felt was her own pain
She didn't wait for the truth or let me explain
All my dreams of love are in vain

In the dead silence of night
A thought comes to light
I feel inside what must be a heart attack
She's gone......she's not coming back
