She's But A Dream. Poem by Vyktor Ekott

She's But A Dream.

Rating: 5.0

She walked in, clad in beauty and smiles
Looking graceful, like a queen from the Niles
Who was this goddess that so ravished my thoughts?
Her skin was flawless, without scratches or spots

I was wondering where I saw her last
She looked familiar, maybe an angel from my past
Her eyes were like jade, when she fixed them on me
With slow, cultured steps, she advanced, smiling at me
I smiled back, playing around my luck
My heart was beating, even faster than my clock

My heart paused when she spread out her arms
And I memorized line one of the twenty-third Psalms
The Lord is my shepherd, but I was not sure what I want
I witnessed my heart literally grow like a tended plant
I was stunned when she called out my name
So I faltered and fidgeted around without shame

In an instant, she was in my embrace
And in silence, I prayed for extra grace
The next moment, I was brought to reality by a scream
Only to realize that my emotional trip was but a dream.
