Shattered Glass Poem by Anders Lim

Shattered Glass

Rating: 5.0

Through the trials of endless pain
What’s my reward at the end
Tears of my heart has all been drained
So what more can I amend

And yet you betray me once more
Who else can I trust
This is the friendship we once swore
So break it if you must

You’ve shot a bullet of despicable lies
Straight through the core of my brain
It caught my conscience by surprise
And my emotions, no longer sane

My heart of glass, shattered in dismay
But do you even care
Never ending thoughts day after day
Wishing you were never there

But the glass is broken, beyond repair
So where’s the glue I lack
You’ve left me in the pit of despair
Now who will glue it back

Or is this your intention all along
To leave a sharp shard on the ground
To harms the ones who did no wrong
And hurt my loved ones around

Look at the mess you’ve made
Look at the damage you’ve done
Congrats on your successful crusade
Now hand me your goddamn gun

I’ll point it back in my own brain
And an innocent face, soaked with tears
It’s no longer about the physical pain
So I’ll take my life with no fear

I regret once more for trusting you
This is no longer your gun
The first bullet was of sheer subdue
So I’ll pull the second one…
