Shadowplay Poem by Dónall Dempsey

Shadowplay

Rating: 2.7

Here in this
in-between world

of sunlight & shadow

dappled with leaves
I am

seeing another
woman.

Boldly in full view
of you

I go to her
kiss her

openly on the lips.

You don’t seem to mind.

The leaves gossip to the breeze.

You laugh.

“I’ve never had anyone
kiss my shadow
before! ”

I turn & kiss
the real you

making your shadow
jealous.
