Shadow Play Poem by Thomas Golding

Shadow Play

The brass donkey's head rears back
In perpetual surprise
Long necked beast tail erect
One day I'll take you out
And polish up the highlights
Mozart is playing on the C.D.
Perhaps you don't like
My taste in music
It does go on and on
You may prefer the Air
And the Gavotte
So put your tail down dear
Don’t leave brass nuggets
On my mantelpiece.
