Shadow Of The Night Poem by Philip St. Cyr

Shadow Of The Night

As the eve of a new day approaches
the light of noon day wastes away
leaving behind a faint, yet florescent scene
the clouds begin to sift away beneath the western skies
as the daylight begins descend
another day has come and gone
and dusk is fast approaching
The song of the cricket echoes through the night sky
while moon is full and it's beaming glow is reflected on all that is below
As the darkness grows thick
the creatures of the dark begin to emerge
the cry of owl echoes far and wide
sea turtles bury their eggs in the sand
as bats transcend from their hidden domicile
radiant fireflies illuminate themselves as the stars above
glistening with iridescence
spiders quietly stalk their pray under the shadow of the night sky
as the Leaf eaters are unaware
moths dance above the water attracted to the moonlight
while female frogs lay their eggs above-stream
the bats enjoy a bountiful harvest feasting on fruits and Insects
but as the hours slip away they return with full stomachs to their lonely domicile
At dawn the turtles' eggs have hatched and their young scurry for the water
The long is night is finally over
