Shadow Poem by Ocean Myranda

Shadow

As I walk, it follows me,
Through the day, it’s there,
Through the night, it’s gone,
Yet, it shows no emotion.

Its black as night,
Dark and cold,
It moves when I move, but stays still when I do,
Yet, it disappears in the dark.

It leaves me behind,
To the place unknown to man,
If only it could take me,
I’m ready, here’s my hand.

Crouched in the corner,
Knees held tight,
Another day lost,
Another night, I cry myself to sleep.

Losing everyone I have once loved,
Breaks my heart without fail,
Life is lost without one to love,
Still, no one understands.

Death prevails once again,
It steals another life from me,
Lost, confused, and wishing to be found,
My shadow leaves me once again.

The only thing that sticks beside me,
Whether I’m wrong or right,
My shadow, now has left me too,
I’m truly dead inside.

This crushed heart,
This blood-stained soul,
Wishing for someone to rescue me,
Does anyone hear my cries?

Just wishing for hope,
Wishing for light,
Take me away,
Take me with you, my shadow.

Don’t leave me again,
I’m lost, this I know,
A broken heart filled with, never-ending, love,
Listen, still I cry myself to sleep most nights.

Wishing for someone,
Hoping for someway out,
Wanting freedom from my past,
Save me, my shadow.
