Shades Of Grey Poem by johnny dodo

Shades Of Grey

Rating: 4.8

shadows whisper and echo tears
amid the laughter hides the fear
in the dying of the light the vision clears
but the truth stays hidden behind smoke and mirrors

a smiling face and a wicked grin
bite the apple and eat the sin
in the hearts of many it lays wthin
some rejoice and some chagrin

to each his own to his hearts desire
all that glitters still gleams though twisted in the mire
a lowly wretch beyond the mountains will to hope aspire
for the body may be broken but the spirit never tires

be wary of that line and never cross
for what's on the other side once found cannot be lost
the price you pay a mere trifle to its cost
and though you gain the world for eternity will be at a loss
