Settle Down Without

whispers lend warmth to my words
so gentle light may shine upon them
as they drift above like prayers
like feathers the wind condemns
from fleeting wings all facing south
I wonder how far my breath can carry
each word before it leaves my mouth
that sweeps a feather from my heart
may it rest well where it should lay
so close to me or far apart
