Set Yourself Free Poem by Bree Swart

Set Yourself Free

What would it take for you to be a man,
A walking contradiction,
Blindsided by another girl's deodorant can,
So naïve, trapped in this inner confliction.

The spotlight is blinding,
Oblivious to reality,
Tied down with habits so binding,
Selfish, addictive personality.

Following in the footsteps,
Openly accepting defeat,
No goals, drive, sense of accomplishment,
Happy feet.

What defines you?
Dependant on which you are,
You boast on being honest and true,
Maybe you would have never left the tar.

The past shouldn't reflect so heavily on your present,
Restricting yourself from being happy,
Those blinding lights are iridescent
Set yourself free.
