Serious Thought Poem by Mehta Hasmukh Amathaal

Gave serious thought and tried to be assertive,
Have some say and never be submissive,
Not to look crook but not also passive,
Easy to take respect and ready to give,

First entry with bang as bride,
Head high with boldness and pride,
Firmness in attitude and nothing to hide,
All happiness and joy to provide,

I had heard all about marriage,
Abort in bad time and miscarriage,
Ill treatment and great insult,
Nothing it to happen without my consult,

Not predetermined or set goal in mind,
Nothing to probe but exact things to find,
Not showing disrespect and manner always kind,
Live to the situation and not to take as blind,

Hubby to be given clear message with love,
My entry in home as good bride and not dove,
Single devotion to him with utmost care,
I was here for all the times and going no where,

I will serve him to the best of my ability,
Showing all regard with care and capability,
Sincere efforts with all the sanity,
Approach bold but intentions with purity,

Neither was I afraid not for its misfire,
Nor had any ideas taken on hire,
Purely conceivable effort and ready to submit,
Any lapses, if pointed out, ready to admit,

Gone were the days when were called toys,
Now we run race and compete with boys,
We may be called butterflies but not so weak,
Time may come when our work may speak,

Whenever I see or hear about the harassment,
I don’t curse or express the lament,
Never I ask for excuse and pass the comment,
I strike hard and make resolve for new advent,

No more atrocities or maltreatment,
All steps to enforce and further prevent,
I shall do it with utmost care,
Not at cost of insanity but with means fare and fun fare
