Serenity Poem by Matthew O'Brien

Serenity

The night drew nigh,
Air cold, rich with the scent of pine,
Soft lay the darkness
The world captured in its eternity.

Alone.
Singled out by silence
The only feeling I had come to recognize.

And then there were two,
Two bodies
Breathing heavily
Until all breathing stopped
For a precious moment.

And once again, my mind was at ease and my body fell to rest.
