September Child Poem by Juan Olivarez

September Child

Being a child of september
I tend to be analytical and sometimes
Overly harsh
Some say I am intelligent, but most disagree
But I am meticulous and introverted
But I could have picked a better month
I think
I don't like rain
That much
That why I left Texas
And moved next to Rod
But September does have its merits
Football is in full swing
The Fall Classic is at hand
And the rainy season in
The Rio Grande Valley
Well I can't seem to make up my mind huh
Maybe there are just too many Septembers
Under my belt

Anyway I couldn't have picked
A better month
Unless maybe December for Christmas
Or November for Thanksgiving
Or October for Halloween
I just love Halloween
Oh well like the French say
Thats life
